Author, Lewis Carroll  once said, The hurrier I go, the behinder I get.  I know many of you can relate. The older I get the behinder I get as well. That's the story here and I'm sticking to it.

I'm sure that many of you have been following the news since the riots and killing in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Sad state of affairs by anyone's definition. I reached out on Facebook to a friend that lives there, trying to understand. We were having a great conversation when all hell broke loose on my timeline. The hatred and derision that was spewed by several unnamed persons was inexcusable but unfortunately, the current state of things in the U.S.  We're all Americans folks.  Stand by her or lose her no matter whose "side" you are on. Our country's future is at stake!  -Rant over-

To the winners of the contest, the packages will go out in the mail this weekend so start watching your mailboxes.  Alan Petrucci and Walt Franklin that includes your shirts as well...finally.

I hate having to be honest, but there hasn't been any fishing and after all, isn't that the point here? Life just keeps throwing lemons at me and a few hit their target.  More people passing on, surgeries; it goes on and on.  But not all the news has been bad.  I thank God every day for bringing me Steve.  It's a joy I've never felt before and it's been fun getting to know each other.  We had a little family reunion a few weeks ago, cousins meeting up that haven't seen each other in years.  It was great! Last weekend I attended my 50th high school reunion.  Yeah Falcons!  It was sad that there were many missing faces but such a great feeling to make those connections again.  Best of all, I found that one of my classmates is an avid outdoorsman and fly fisherman.  With a little luck Mike and I will be able to fish the Poudre River together.  And to be totally honest, I was thrilled to see my old high school sweetheart.  Still beautiful after all these years and married to a fellow classmate for 48 years!

Well, that's where things stand right now.  It seems that maybe Fall will be here early this year and the best fishing is yet to come.

Fish on!
