I drove up Clear Creek Canyon yesterday. And as I've done so many times before, I went the length of the canyon and then turned around and drove back down until I found a spot that called to me. As long as it's been since I fished last; as badly as I needed to embrace what the canyon offers, I knew this wasn't the point today.

I brought a rod with me and I brought along the camera even though I had no intent on using either. I found a comfortable looking rock overlooking the water and the ramshackle remains of bygone times. When I find myself lost, this is often where I discover my way again. When I have questions, this is often where I find the answers. I never regret my time here.

Stephanie came home from the hospital yesterday with IVs in her arm and an oxygen tank trailing behind. She apparently still has valve replacement surgery to look forward to sometime next month. The staph infection seems to be on the run. I think she was glad to be home. To those who sent their prayers and get well wishes, we thank you. It will be nice for things to get back to a semblance of normal. While Pam and I were looking forward to a long weekend fishing trip to the Arkansas, it looks like we may have to put it off for a while until Steph is a little better and after the surgery.

Pam and the kids are supposed to go to Ohio next month also. My guess is that's going to be postponed as well. Me? Well, someone has to stay home and run the zoo.

It's hard to believe that summer is quickly coming to an end. I still feel like I just woke up from a bad dream having slept past the first six months of the year. I'm looking forward to some great Fall fishing since I seem to have slept through Spring and Summer.
